Mark dove and nerded out with the scuba heads who brought multiple suitcases full of dive equipment for their trip, whereas I had not dove in over 6 years and didn’t want to hold Mark back from seeing the beauties that were Nusa Penida. They gave me a snorkel and I flopped around and looked at plenty of coral and fish and still had a great time. We wasted a good chunk of time that day fixing the phone mounts on our scooters, and headed off to see the line of tourists hoping to take the exact same photo at the “T-Rex”, at Kelingking Beach. We came, we saw, we said that it looked like a dinosaur, and quickly headed off to Pandan Beach, a “secret” beach located next to the densely populated Crystal Bay. This beach was a special spot for my last time I was in SE Asia, and I’m glad we got to return to it. We had the beach all to ourselves as the sun set, and we walked around looking at tide pools and all the life it had to offer. We nabbed some food at Crystal Bay and had a decent scooter ride back to the hostel. That night there was a fire on the beach and Mark and I commandeered it, and we had some others join us in our little circle. The company was great and was almost the exact opposite of the vibes from the night before. Bioluminescent plankton could be seen on the beach after the fire went out and I was absolutely ecstatic.
