We met Roger again for breakfast the next day and decided it was time to head more north. We checked out, thanked the staff, and snagged a Gojek to Ubud. Ubud is a busy city, where influencers thrive on their spiritual materialism and selfies. Many gluten free and vegan options can be found in this yogi hot-spot. We stumbled upon a homestay amongst the many markets, and YOLO’d it to stay there for a night. We chucked our bags down and went back into the town to explore around. We looked at some stores, Mark picked up some BDP’s, a type of pants usually referred to as Harem style, and we went to look at the temple across the way. We nabbed tons of photos of statues, ranging from Predator looking statues holding babies, to Kali with her necklace of skulls, to monkey gods holding scepters of power. I remembered where I rented my motorbike last time so we walked over to that street, and found plenty of scooters for rent. Mark was hesitant to scootie again after the ride the day before, but assured him it would all be far more chill than that.

We blasted up north past a bunch of Luwak coffee farms to the rice terraces. They were mostly for tourism but it was good seeing rice still being grown and locals harvesting. We saw many fruits being grown, durian, pineapple, and jackfruit. Covered in sweat we sat down for another fruit smoothie and kept on exploring. We scooted back to Ubud, to explore the town, try local food, and crash for the night. The power went out and we lost the fan above us, causing me to wake up drenched. The power going out might have caused the baby across the way to wake up and scream for the entire duration of the rest of the night, or maybe it just did that every night, we were not willing to stay again to find out.
